Audit Requirements

Who Needs a DMC Audit?

Dubai Media City is commercially operated by TECOM Group, but audited financial statements are regulated by the Dubai Development Authority (DDA) — the same authority that oversees Dubai Internet City, Dubai Design District, Dubai Knowledge Park, and other DDA free zones.

Under DDA Circular 421 (Private Companies Regulations 2016), every FZ-LLC and branch office registered in DMC must prepare and submit an audited financial statement, together with a Financial Statements Report Summary Sheet, through the DDA’s AXS portal.

What You’ll Need for Your DMC Audit

To keep your DMC audit and AXS portal filing moving quickly, have the following ready:

  • DMC trade licence
  • Memorandum & Articles of Association
  • Trial balance and general ledger
  • Bank statements for the full financial year
  • Sales and purchase invoices
  • VAT records (if VAT-registered)
  • Payroll records
  • Fixed asset register (including production or broadcast equipment where relevant)
  • Previous year’s audit report (if available)
Audit Deadline

The DDA Six-Month Rule

Under DDA Circular 421 (Private Companies Regulations 2016), DMC companies must submit their audited financial statements and Summary Sheet through the AXS portal within six months of their financial year end — the same six-month window applies to a company’s very first financial year.

Media and production businesses often run project-based accounting across multiple client contracts, so it pays to start reconciling well before the six-month mark rather than waiting until it is close.

Penalties

What Happens If You Miss the Deadline

The DDA sets and updates these penalties itself — confirm current fine amounts with the DDA or your auditor before relying on any figure you see quoted online.

Administrative Fines

Missing the AXS portal deadline can trigger administrative fines under DDA rules.

Renewal Delays

A missing or late audit can restrict or delay your trade licence renewal.

AXS Portal Restrictions

Non-compliance can lead to account blocks and a flagged compliance record.

FAQ

DMC Audit FAQs

Is an annual audit mandatory in Dubai Media City?

Yes. Every FZ-LLC and branch office registered in DMC must submit audited financial statements under DDA regulations.

Is DMC audited by TECOM or the DDA?

DMC is commercially operated by TECOM Group, but audited financial statement submission is regulated by the Dubai Development Authority (DDA) — DDA sets the rules and approves the auditors, the same as at Dubai Internet City.

What is the audit submission deadline for DMC companies?

Audited financial statements and a Summary Sheet must be filed via the AXS portal within six months of your financial year end (DDA Circular 421).

What happens if I miss the deadline?

You may face administrative fines, AXS portal restrictions, and delays to your trade licence renewal. Confirm current fine amounts directly with the DDA.

Are you approved auditors for DMC?

Yes — Alya Auditors is on the DDA’s approved auditor list, covering DMC and other DDA-regulated free zones.

How much does a DMC audit cost?

Cost depends on your company’s size, sector, and transaction volume. Request a free quote for a figure specific to your business.

How long does a DMC audit take?

Most DMC audits are completed within one to two weeks once records are ready, well inside the six-month AXS portal window.

What documents do I need for my DMC audit?

Typically your trade licence, MOA/AOA, trial balance, bank statements, sales and purchase invoices, VAT records, and payroll records.
